The BMW 3-series has won the prestigious Autocar Asian Car of the Year Award 2013.

A total of 59 cars were initially shortlisted, and then narrowed down to six cars. The winner is decided by two representatives from each edition of Autocar published in the Asian region. For a car to qualify for the award, it needs to be on sale in at least three of the nine Asian countries in which Autocar is published, and its launch date must have fallen between October 2011 and September 2012.

The BMW 3-series emerged as the winner this year amongst contenders including the Audi Q3, Lexus GS, Porsche 911, Range Rover Evoque and the Toyota 86.

Hormazd Sorabjee, editor, Autocar India said, "The new 3-series takes the game forward with its brilliant blend of ride and handling, strong engines and stunning appearance. Interior space and comfort has taken a huge leap forward too."

The 3-series is testament to BMW's driver-focussed ideology and engineering prowess. It has raised the class benchmark and stands head and shoulders above its competition, deservedly earning it the title of the 2013 Autocar Asian Car of the Year.
