During a press conference on its financial results, the British manufacturer confirmed plans to launch a relatively affordable new sports car, code-named the P13, in 2015. In addition, catering to a more high-end crowd, the brand will introduce a new limited edition P1 designed for the race track.
Due out in 2015, McLaren's next sports car, currently known as the P13, will be priced on the low end compared to the rest of the brand's catalog. The mid-engine two-seater will be built with a carbon fiber chassis, guaranteeing minimal weight and maximum performance. To be offered in several versions, the new model will likely be priced starting at £120,000 (around $201,000), placing it in competition with sports cars such as the Porsche 911 and the Audi R8.
At the top end of the spectrum, McLaren also confirmed that it will produce a limited edition track-focused version of the P1, the most powerful car in the brand's history. This exclusive model will be available only to clients who already own a McLaren P1.
In 2013, the company delivered 1,359 12Cs and 36 McLaren P1s. This year, the brand added the 650S supercar to its lineup.
