Maserati's centennial anniversary celebrations will culminate September 18-20 with a special program including parades, exhibits, track tests and a concours d'elegance. Car collectors from around the world are expected to join the festivities in Italy.

The three-day rally will take participants from Modena to Turin with a stop at the track outside of Cremona. On September 17, ahead of the official program, participants are invited to meet in Bologna, Maserati's official birthplace, where they can see the Fountain of Neptune which inspired the brand's logo.

On September 18, car enthusiasts will converge upon Modena for a visit to the Casa Enzo Ferrari museum and its Maserati Centennial Exhibition. Next up is a tour of the Viale Ciro Menotti factory where the Maserati Granturismo, Maserati Grancabrio and Alfa Romeo 4C are built.

Participants will then head to the San Martino del Lago race track, near Cremona, for a series of track tests. The fleet of historic Maserati cars will then parade through the streets of Cremona before heading to Turin, where they will line up on the Piazza Castello.

The final day will include a tour of the Giovanni Agnelli Plant, where the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte are produced, and a concours d'elégance on the Piazza San Carlo.

100 years of history

The famous Italian car brand was founded in Bologna, Italy in December 1914 by Alfieri Maserati, who was backed by his brothers Ettore and Ernesto.

Maserati's first vehicle, the Tipo 26, was built in 1926 and won the prestigious Targa Florio race the same year. The company soon made a name for itself on international race tracks, as Maseratis were driven to victory in several Grand Prix, Targa Florio and Indy 500 competitions. In 1957, Formula 1 racing legend Juan-Manuel Fangio won his fifth and final World Drivers' Championship title behind the wheel of the Maserati 250F.

The brand presented its first road-going model, the A6 GT, in 1947. The first-generation of the famous Quattroporte luxury sports sedan, a line still going strong today, was launched in 1963.
