Ahead of EICMA, BMW Motorrad has introduced two new models: the brand-new S1000XR adventure sports bike and the revamped F800R naked sports bike. The models will be on display at the motorcycle show, which takes place in Milan from November 6 to 9.

Something of a cross between the S1000R and the R1200GS, the BMW S1000XR has a 999cc inline four-cylinder engine with 160hp and comes with two driving modes (Rain and Road). Automatic stability control (ASC) is included as standard, while dynamic traction control (DTC) and ABS Pro are optional.

The other major attraction on the BMW stand is the 2015 F800R, which has improved performance and handling compared to the outgoing model. Now with 90hp (+3hp), the 798cc engine is coupled to a six-speed transmission with shorter first and second gears for quicker acceleration. The front wheel is now suspended by an upside down fork, and the handlebars and saddle have been revised for a more comfortable ride. ABS is a standard feature on the new F800R, while ASC and electronic suspension adjustment (ESA) are optional.

Both of the new models are due to go on sale from BMW Motorrad before the end of 2014.
