Nissan Sunny: Overview
The Nissan Sunny was a mid-size sedan introduced in India in 2011, but it has been discontinued for quite some time. It was available with both petrol and diesel engine options and was offered in multiple variants, including XE, XL, and XV. The petrol variant featured a 1.5-litre HR15DE engine producing 98.6 bhp at 6000 rpm and 134 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. The diesel variant was equipped with a 1.5-litre K9K dCi engine delivering 84.8 bhp at 3750 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. Both engines were paired with a 5-speed manual transmission, with the petrol variant also offering a CVT option.

At launch, the Sunny's price started from ₹5.68 lakh for the base XE petrol variant to ₹7.68 lakh for the top-end XV petrol variant (ex-showroom Delhi).

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the launch of the 2025 Sunny and it is not expected to arrive on our shores anytime soon.

Nissan offered the sedan in both petrol and diesel variants, with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol models also offered a CVT option and were powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 98.6 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. The diesel models were fitted with a 1.5-litre K9K dCi engine that churned out 84.8 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.
The Sunny came equipped with features such as body-coloured bumpers, roof antenna, and alloy wheels on higher variants. It offered electrically adjustable and folding outside mirrors, a drive computer, tachometer, and an integrated audio system with four speakers and AUX-in support. The interior included chrome-plated inside door handles, electric power steering with tilt adjustment, manual or automatic air conditioning depending on the variant, rear comfort fan, driver power window with auto down and anti-pinch function, boot lamp, remote keyless entry, and intelligent key with push-button ignition on select variants.

During its time in the Indian market, the Sunny competed with sedans like the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda City, and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. If reintroduced, it will pick up the fight from where it left off.
