The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is the first all-electric vehicle from India's largest car manufacturer. Initially unveiled as the eVX concept at the 2023 Auto Expo, the final production version was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The e Vitara is built on the newly developed HEARTECT-e platform, specifically designed for battery-electric vehicles. The platform features a lightweight structure with high-voltage protection and a short overhang, allowing for an expansive cabin. The battery electric SUV will be available in two battery pack variants, with the bigger option bringing a claimed range of up to 500 km.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has not been officially launched yet, and the pricing details remain undisclosed. The electric SUV is expected to be priced competitively in the mid-range EV segment, with estimates suggesting a starting price of around ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara was unveiled for the first time in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. The official launch is expected to take place by April 2025. Maruti Suzuki has stated that while the company is entering the EV market later than competitors, the initial phase will focus on brand establishment rather than high-volume sales.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in two battery pack configurations: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Both options will be available in India. The 49 kWh battery is limited to a 2WD setup, generating 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh battery pack is available in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The 2WD version produces 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque, while the 4WD variant delivers 300 Nm of torque. The claimed range for the 61 kWh battery is up to 500 km per charge, while the 49 kWh version's range is yet to be disclosed.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be available in ten exterior colour options, including six monotone and four dual-tone shades. The monotone options include Nexa Blue, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Grandeur Grey, Bluish Black, and Opulent Red. The dual-tone variants feature a black roof with blacked-out A- and B-pillars and will be paired with Arctic White, Land Breeze Green, Splendid Silver, and Opulent Red.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara features a dual-tone interior layout with squared-off design elements on the dashboard and air vents. A key highlight of the cabin is the dual integrated screen setup, which functions as both the infotainment system and the digital driver’s display. The SUV is also equipped with a two-spoke steering wheel.
The e Vitara includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, a 360-degree camera, and connected car technology. Maruti Suzuki has introduced several first-time features in the e Vitara, including Level-2 ADAS for enhanced safety.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will be offered with two battery pack options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The manufacturer has confirmed that both variants will be available in India. The 49 kWh battery, available only in the 2WD model, generates 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The 61 kWh battery produces 172 bhp and 189 Nm of torque in the 2WD configuration, while the 4WD variant increases the torque output to 300 Nm.
The e Vitara features an advanced eAxle system that integrates the motor and inverter with lithium iron-phosphate batteries. Maruti Suzuki has developed an electric 4WD system, known as the ALLGRIP-e system, which provides enhanced off-road capabilities. This system utilises two independent eAxles positioned at the front and rear, allowing for precise torque distribution. The ALLGRIP-e system also features a Trail Mode, which applies braking force to the spinning wheels and redirects torque to the opposite side when combating rough terrain.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is a five-seater compact SUV.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara is equipped with a Level-2 ADAS suite, marking the first time Maruti Suzuki has introduced this technology in an Indian-market vehicle. The ADAS system includes lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking assist. Other safety features include seven airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality.
The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara will compete with other compact electric SUVs in the Indian market, including the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Mahindra BE 6.
