BMW X1: Overview

The BMW X1 is the brand’s entry-level luxury SUV in India, now in its third generation. It adopts a sharper design, enhanced features, and improved efficiency while continuing to offer both petrol and diesel powertrain options. Positioned in the premium compact SUV segment, the new X1 offers a balance between luxury, practicality, and performance, targeting buyers upgrading to their first luxury SUV.

The BMW X1 is priced between ₹45.90 lakh and ₹51.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The range starts with the sDrive18i xLine variant and extends to the top-spec sDrive18d M Sport diesel trim. The petrol M Sport variant, sDrive18i M Sport, sits in the middle of the lineup.

BMW India offers the SUV in three variants. These include the petrol-powered sDrive18i xLine and sDrive18i M Sport, and the diesel-powered sDrive18d M Sport. Each variant comes with a distinct styling package and varying levels of equipment, with the M Sport trims offering additional aesthetic enhancements and premium features.

BMW X1: Mileage

The 1.5-litre petrol variant offers a claimed mileage of over 16 kmpl, while the 2.0-litre diesel variant delivers a higher figure of 20.37 kmpl.

BMW X1: Specs & Features

The third-gen BMW X1 is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 134 bhp and 230 Nm, and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine developing 148 bhp and 360 Nm. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels. The petrol variant accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds, while the diesel does the same in 8.9 seconds.

Feature highlights include a dual-screen setup comprising a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, both running on BMW’s latest iDrive 8 interface. Other equipment includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, adaptive LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, massaging front seats, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system on select variants.

Safety features include multiple airbags, ABS with brake assist, electronic stability control, cornering brake control (CBC), electronic parking brake, and a rear-view camera. Advanced driver-assistance features such as lane departure warning, front collision warning, and manual speed limit assist are also available, offering additional active safety and convenience.
