The word ‘Scooty’ did sit well with the Indian folks. Ever since it was released, all gearless scooters began to be called “scooty”. The Scooty has stood the test of time and still clocks several good sales every month.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Launch Dates:
The original Scooty was released as a peppy two stroke scooter back in 1996. This was followed by many variants in many colours. The recent BS6 Scooty Pep Plus was launched in April 2020.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Price:
There are only two variants of this scooty. The glossy variant sells for Rs. 60,000 and the matte variant sells for Rs. 63,000. Kindly note, all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Design:
The Scooty has maintained its shape since the original release in 1996. Subsequent models started becoming slimmer and more compact like the Zest and Streak. The Teenz edition was launched in 2007 and soon released a simpler electric version. The modern Scooty however has retained the typical Scooty Pep design with adequate graphics and colour options. It is now available in 7 colours: Frosted Black, Nero Blue, Revving Red, Glittering Gold, Princess Pink, Aqua Matte and Coral Matte.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Dimension:
Seat height of the Scooty Pep Plus is comfortably lower allowing shorter riders to ride it easily. There is adequate storage under the seat and the scooter is light at just 93 kilos.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Features:
The Scooty Pep Plus is known to have shared many features including design with the earlier BS4 variant. The BS6 version comes with basic features like halogen headlight, analogue instrument cluster and the EZ-centre stand. The LED DRL comes as stock. The USB charging port and side-stand alarm are optional however.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Engine and Performance:
The Scooty Pep Plus comes with an elementary 87.8cc air cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 5.4 BHP at 6,500 RPM and 6.5 Nm torque at 3,500 RPM. The engine is mated to a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission). Although the numbers might not sound like much, the torque is enough to transport 130 kilos including rider’s weight. A light weighted pillion can join in for the ride.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Mileage:
The fuel tank can hold 4.2 litres while the vehicle gives a mileage in the band of 55 to 68 kmpl.
TVS Scooty Pep Plus Rivals:
The Scooty does not have a direct rival in its class as it has a niche customer base. However, the Scooty competes with Hero Pleasure Plus and Honda Dio among others. The Scooty is also within the price range of Hero Electric Dash, Evolet Polo and Ampere Reo.
