TVS Jupiter CNG: Specs & Features
The Jupiter CNG is based on the popular 125 cc Jupiter chassis but now includes a CNG tank mounted on the front apron beneath the seat. This is a 1.4 kilogram CNG unit and it leaves no boot space. The tank is protected with a plastic covering with an eyelet to display the pressure gauge and a filler nozzle surrounding it. TVS says that the scooter can travel 84 km on one kilogram of CNG.
In addition, it has a floorboard-mounted, 2-litre gas tank with a filler nozzle in the front apron area, similar to the Jupiter 125 ICE scooter. TVS claims a total range of 226 km (CNG+Petrol).
The Jupiter CNG will be driven by a 124.8 cc single-cylinder motor making 7.1 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 9.4 Nm at 5,500 rpm. TVS claims the scooter has a top speed of 80 kmph. The rest of the scooter is identical to the petrol-powered Jupiter 125, including the design, ergonomics, features, wheels, and brakes.
TVS Jupiter CNG: Rivals
The TVS Jupiter CNG will have no direct rivals in its segment as it is likely to be the world’s first CNG-powered scooter.
