With its sculpted tank, eager attitude, and tucked-in riding position, the new Continental GT 650 is a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, drawing inspiration from the café racing culture of the 1950s and 1960s. The sleek curves, bubbling gas tank, and gleaming chrome are both beautiful and nostalgic. The Continental GT comes standard with a dual-seat configuration, but even the long seat has a modest hump that provides adequate support under acceleration.
Looks and built:
For the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650, new colour schemes have been released. Blacked-out spoke rims and fenders are now standard on most colour versions, and fork gaiters are now standard on all models. Apart from that, Royal Enfield has added a ribbed touring seat and several additional accessories like clip-on handlebars, a single seat with a race cowl, a smaller 12.5-litre petrol tank, and black spoked wheels. At the front, the bike has a single 320mm disc brake with a ByBre four-piston calliper, while the rear has a single 240mm disc brake. The gasoline tank is significantly smaller than the Interceptor's at 12.5 litres, and the bike is also slightly lighter, weighing 198kg without fuel.
Riding ergonomics:
A dual cradle frame is used in the Continental GT. It's connected to a set of 41mm telescopic forks up front and dual gas-charged shock absorbers with preload adjustment in the back. The speedometer has a dual-pod analogue instrument with a small digital odometer and trip metre display. The Continental GT's headlight, tail lamp, and indicator are all powered by standard bulbs.
Engine and Power:
A BS6-compliant 648cc air and oil-cooled 270-degree parallel-twin motor with 47.45PS of power at 7100rpm and 52Nm of peak torque at 5200rpm powers the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650. It comes with a 6-speed transmission with a slip-and-assist clutch. The counterbalanced engine helps the bike to maintain triple digit speeds with little vibrations. The motor is also claimed by Royal Enfield to have a fuel efficiency of 25.5 kpl, according to the World Motorcycle Test Cycle.
