Harley-Davidson Nightster: Overview
The Harley-Davidson Nightster is a 975 cc cruiser positioned within the brand’s Sportster lineup as a more accessible entry point to the Harley-Davidson experience. First launched in India in 2022, the motorcycle combines a classic roadster silhouette with the brand’s new-age Revolution Max engine and modern chassis.
While the design pays tribute to traditional Harley cues with its minimalist styling and low-slung stance, it delivers a more agile and responsive performance than typical cruisers. The motorcycle features a distinctive two-into-one exhaust, a circular headlamp, and chopped fenders, emphasising its sporty bobber-inspired aesthetic. It is built around a steel trellis frame using the engine as a stressed member and remains among the lightest Harley offerings in the country.
Harley-Davidson Nightster: Price
The Harley-Davidson Nightster price in India falls between ₹13.39 lakh and ₹14.09 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The base model is available at ₹13.39 lakh, while the Nightster Special, which includes additional equipment and design enhancements, is priced at ₹14.09 lakh. It is one of the most affordable motorcycles from Harley-Davidson in India, positioned below larger touring-oriented models.
Harley-Davidson Nightster: Launch Date
The Nightster was introduced in India in August 2022 as a Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU). Its launch marked the first Sportster-series product brought to India after Hero MotoCorp began handling Harley-Davidson’s distribution, sales, and service operations in the country.
Harley-Davidson Nightster: Variants & Colours
The Nightster is offered in two variants – the standard model and the Nightster Special. While both variants are powered by the same 975 cc engine and share most mechanical components, the Special version adds a headlamp cowl, a larger 4.0-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, and four ride modes, including a customisable option. The standard variant uses a basic circular analogue dial with an LCD inset.
The motorcycle is available in four colour options: Vivid Black, Redline Red, Billiard Grey, and Industrial Yellow, depending on the variant selected.
Harley-Davidson Nightster: Mileage
The Harley-Davidson Nightster delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.18 kmpl. With an 11.7-litre fuel tank placed under the rider’s seat, the motorcycle’s low centre of gravity aids stability and agility while offering a reasonable range for its segment.
Harley-Davidson Nightster: Specs & Features
Powering the Nightster is a 975 cc, liquid-cooled, V-twin Revolution Max engine producing 89 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 95 Nm of torque at 5,750 rpm. It comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and uses a belt final drive system. The motorcycle is capable of hitting a top speed of around 180 kmph.
The Nightster uses a steel trellis frame and is equipped with Showa 41 mm front forks and twin preload-adjustable shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are managed by a 320 mm disc at the front with four-piston calipers and a 260 mm disc at the rear. It rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. The low seat height of 705 mm and kerb weight of 221–225 kg, depending on variant, enhance its accessibility for a wider range of riders.
In terms of features, the base variant includes LED lighting, a basic analogue display, and standard safety aids like ABS and traction control. The Nightster Special adds a 4-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, ride modes (Road, Rain, Sport, and Custom), engine brake control, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and all-LED illumination. The fuel tank shell is styled to mimic a conventional top tank, while the actual fuel storage is located under the seat.
