The Suzuki GSX-S1000 : The company is going to great lengths to highlight just how good its new ‘Super Naked' or street sport bike is, organizing a host of special events and test rides for potential owners. The bike has a new, lighter frame, comes with a three-mode traction control system and a full LCD instrument panel. The company has gone back to the classic 2005 model for powerplant inspiration and the 999cc 16-valve engine has 144bhp but with much of the punch and pull coming mid-range, where it's needed most. The BMW S1000XR : Similarly naked and similarly potent, the fourth member of BMW's newly formed high-power motorcycle range has a straight-four-cylinder engine and is trying to bring an exhilarating edge to the adventure bike format, BMW is calling the S1000XR an Adventure Sport bike and with 160bhp on tap, ‘adventure' is a good choice of word. The idea being that it can rip up the tarmac and then keep going when the tarmac runs out. Photo:AFP

The Ducati Diavel Titanium Edition : A cruiser, but only for those whose idea of a cruise takes in a post-apocalyptic landscape, the standard Diavel, with its aggressive lines, wide stance and 160bhp V-Twin engine is already pretty special. However, the company is now selling a special Titanium edition, limited to 500 examples globally; it's lighter, stronger and more desirable still thanks to prodigious use of titanium and carbon fiber in its construction. The Aprilia RSV4 RR : This is Aprilia's latest World Superbikes competition contender. It picks up where the last model - which was sensational - left off and is available in ‘stock' (RR) or as a limited edition ‘RF'. Its V4, 999cc engine delivers 200bhp and offers launch control and an eight-position traction control system to stop things from getting too messy. And despite the increase in power, thanks to its setup, it should be the easiest superbike the company has produced to drive away from the track. Photo:AFP

Norton Dominator SS : Inspired by the Domiracer racer, with much of the same feel, but in a road-legal package, the ‘standard' Dominator gets a 961cc parallel twin engine good for 80bhp, a carbon front mudguard and flyscreen and black anodized yokes and clock surround. The very limited edition SS (an initial 50 numbered examples planned) gets a hand-made aluminum fuel tank, a polished yoke set and machined foot controls. Photo:AFP

Yamaha XV950 Racer : Inspired by the work of custom bike builder Marcus Walz, this bike keeps the stock frame and 942cc air-cooled V-Twin but the handlebars are very different - forged aluminum - they change the riding position and character completely. So too do the front forks, which make space for a larger front wheel for a true café racer look and feel. Photo:AFP

Indian Chief Dark Horse : A high-tech marvel cunningly disguised as a classic piece of Americana, the Indian Chief Dark Horse is low on chrome and high on specs. It has ABS, keyless ignition and cruise control and a huge 1811cc V-Twin calling the shots. So perfect for a solo cruise that a rear passenger seat and foot pegs or floor boards have been omitted from the standard specifications list.

Triumph Tiger 800 : The UK company has given its three-cylinder adventure bikes a real overhaul for 2015 which includes a new, more angular outward appearance and even more impressive fuel economy. They're also the first in their class to get cruise control and a full ride by wire system and the range has been more clearly delineated into on-road and off-road focused models. Photo:AFP

The Honda NM4 : Pitched as the bike for people who don't like bikes, the NM4 has striking looks, a ‘bagger' stance and a clever dual-clutch automatic transmission unique to Honda. Under the space-age faring, which for 2015 is available in matte black, is a 670 parallel twin fuel injected engine kept in check with ABS which is fitted as standard. When not in use, the passenger seat flips up to become a back rest for the rider, offering better lateral support when going hard and cornering harder. Photo:AFP

Victory Magnum X-1 : Another bagger bike, but one with more 20th century design cues. But it is still guaranteed to draw attention wherever it goes thanks to its 200-watt sound system that includes 10 integrated speakers. If that's not enough, the wheels are cut from aluminum billet, the black and red paintwork is designed to clash and the V-Twin displaces 1.7 liters. Photo:AFP
