The Ford Galaxy : Announced during the New York Auto Show, the Galaxy is the S-Max's sensible older brother and one focused on comfort and refinement. Like the S-Max it has some very smart toys, but it is improvements to soundproofing and ride quality that will really appeal. This car really does have space for seven plus luggage and with the press of a button, all passenger seats automatically fold flat to turn the Galaxy into one long load space. Photo:AFP

A big high-tech seven seater redeveloped for better infotainment, smartphone support and of course the latest in driver aids the latest generation of the car also boasts as much as 15% greater fuel economy. However, for many, the car's best feature is that it has sliding rear doors which, although adding weight, also boost practicality, especially when small children, car seats and inner-city parallel parking are involved. The Citroën Berlingo : Uncomplicated fun is the mantra of not just the Berlingo, but the Peugoet Partner and the Fiat Doblo, which follow the same recipe, share many of the same parts and start out life as vans, rather than cars. The fourth-generation Belringo was unveiled in Geneva and offers owners one or two new creature comforts - such as a reversing camera, a better infotainment system and autonomous braking at lower speeds to avoid collisions - but keeps the things that made it popular in the first place: an airy, glass-roofed cabin, an elevated driving position, lots of storage spaces and sliding rear-passenger doors.
