Yamaha's 250cc sportsbike has finally broken cover today at the ongoing Tokyo Motor Show. Yamaha has known to be working on a quarter litre motorcycle for a while, with little information available. From the images now emerging however, it is clear Yamaha's 250cc bike will be a faired sportsbike. The 250cc bikes sleekly styled body panels, tank and alloy wheels are immediately reminiscent of the famous Japanese manufacturers other track focused motorcycles. The R25 comes with a split riding seat, which ends in an attractive, edgy tail.

The R25 showcased here is still in concept form, hence detailed specifications including power and torque outputs remain unknown. What is known is the new quarter litre sportsbike will house a four-stroke, 250cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with fuel-injection. Typical to the YZF series, the R25 leans its rider into the handlebars in an aggressive, weight forward riding position. The R25 uses telescopic fork suspension in front and a monoshock at the rear. There's a single disc brake front and rear.
