Volvo V40 Cross Country for India

Volvo has confirmed its new V40 Cross Country will make it to Indian shores by March 2013. This new contender in the premium crossover/soft-roader market will compete with the likes of the BMW X1 and Mercedes B-class.

Based on Volvo's new five-door V40 hatch, the next-gen Cross Country gets a range of cosmetic tweaks for a more rugged look, including new bumpers and side sills with contrasting inserts. There's a new front grille, rear 'skid plate' and new daytime running lights. It also sports a 173mm ride height, as well as a beefed-up appearance, characterised by an alloy-style body kit. The V40 Cross Country brings a unique combination of rough terrain ability and elegant design.

When it comes to India, it is likely that the 163bhp 2.0-litre D3 diesel motor, coupled to a six-speed auto 'box, will power the V40 Cross Country. Prices and specifications are yet to be revealed but we expect the feature-rich V40 Cross Country to carry a sticker price in the range of ₹30 lakh.
