Volvo car sales soar nearly three-fold in January

Luxury car maker Volvo Auto Indiatoday reported nearly three-fold increase in its sales at 75 units during January 2013.

The company had sold a total of 26 cars in January 2012, Volvo Auto India said in a statement.

'The highest ever year-on-year growth was primarily driven by sales of Volvo S60 and Volvo XC60,' it added.

Commenting on the performance, Volvo Auto India Managing Director Tomas Ernberg said: 'We are very happy to have a great start to the New Year. We closed 2012 with almost a 150 per cent annual growth and now a very promising start of 2013 with another record 188 per cent YoY growth in January.'
