Tatas on Monday asked West Bengal to share the details of the settlement that it struck with Trinamool Congress to break the stalemate in Singur, where it is setting up a manufacturing unit for Nano car.

The company wrote to the Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee-led Left front government seeking clarification on the agreement in the wake of conflicting reports about the return of project land to farmers.

When contacted, a Tata group spokesperson confirmed that the company had written a letter to the government.

Although the state did not give the details of the settlement reached late last night, Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee had told her supporters that 300 acres of the project land would be returned to farmers, besides 100 acres from outside.

Earlier today, the company had said it would not resume construction and commissioning work at its small-car plant in Singur till there was clarity on the outcome of talks between the government and the opposition to end protests against the project.
