Tata motors plant to roll out 2 millionth vehicle
Auto Major Tata Motors' Jamshedpur commercial vehicle plant would roll out its 2 millionth vehicle on February 19, Official sources said today.
Managing Director of the company Mr. Karl Slym would unveil the 2 millionth vehicle during a ceremony. The plant that manufactures trucks, trippers, trailers and other multi axel vehicles was established in 1945 and took almost 49 years to produce its one millionth vehicle in 1994. But it took only around 19 years to make the journey from one to two million mark.
The state of art plant spread over 822 acres was now capable of producing a truck every eight minute, company spokesperson P J Singh said.
The plant had produced one lakh vehicles in record six months time during 2011. Tata Motors also has its other plants at Lucknow, Pune, Pantnagar and Sanand through which it produces various categories of vehicles including cars, SUVs and buses.
