Suzuki woos youth with 150-cc Gixxer at Rs. 72,000
In its first shot at sparking a revival in India, Suzuki Motorcycle on Tuesday launched premium 150-cc motorcycle Gixxer, priced at ₹ 72,199 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is its most important product launch since the commuter-oriented 115cc Hayate two years ago.
Suzuki hopes to double its overall sales to 1 million units in three years, and is pinning its hopes on the Gixxer and another upcoming 110-cc motorcycle to make up the bulk of incremental volumes.

"It is a fact that the young customer does not come to us. It is a challenge before us and Gixxer should help address that," said Atul Gupta, executive vicepresident (sales and marketing), Suzuki Motorcycle India. "What we need is for consumers to take a test drive."
The Gixxer is pitted against the FZ series of Yamaha, TVS Apache, Bajaj Pulsar, Hero Xtreme and Honda CB Trigger.
The company is eyeing a 10% share in the 150cc-segment, and has a target of selling 50,000 units in the rest of this fiscal year. It will also be exported to Latin America, West Asia and Africa.
