Subaru's new concept was created to celebrate the Legacy's 25th anniversary and will serve as a guide for the model's future design direction.
The Japanese carmaker with a penchant for four-wheel-drive, turbocharging, boxer engines and winning world rally championships has been quiet of late but this year has sprung back into action. Its WRX Rally-inspired concept was one of the highlights of the New York Auto Show in March and now the company is hoping that its reimagined Legacy -- its premium sedan with sporting and practical credentials -- has a similar effect in Los Angeles.

Like a number of cars in the same market segment, the new Legacy is more coupé-like in appearance, despite having four doors, and its sloping roofline hopefully hints at one or two surprises under the hood. Subaru has built its reputation through a combination of close-to-the-ground boxer engines (for improved center of gravity), permanent four-wheel drive for guaranteed grip, and turbocharging to boost power without making the engine bigger, heavier and therefore unsuitable for the world rally championships.
However, the company is yet to reveal any details regarding powertrain other than to confirm that it will have permanent all-wheel drive, just like all Subarus.
The car is more angular than past iterations and at 21-inches, its alloy wheels are also bigger and more prominent and the overall look is one of solidity -- which makes it consistent with other Legacy models before it.
The Legacy Concept will be unveiled on November 20 on the first press day of the LA Auto Show.
