Practical luxury: Mercedes GL
If you are looking for luxury combined with practicality, the newly launched Mercedes GL can be a good choice.
Call it supremacy or outright luxury, the new Mercedes GL is a culmination of both. Its attractive exteriors, spiced up interiors and practicality give it an edge over other SUVs. Priced at ₹ 77.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) in Delhi for the launch edition, Mercedes India has announced that this premium SUV will be manufactured in India from September.

Since this is just the launch edition, once production commences, the prices are likely to go down. This model has interesting features, such as a 360 degree camera, open pore trim, cross wind stabilisation, active park assist and sunroof for all three rows, to mention a few. The exteriors are nothing short than striking and aggressive, especially the front end that features a prominent grille with chrome slat inserts, pulled back headlamps, LED day time running lights and an AMG inspired front bumper.
Sides cater to flared wheel arches, roof rails and 21 inch AMG 5 twin spoke alloy wheels. While the rear provides LED tail lamps, the chrome inserts and reflectors complement the overall design.
The drivability factor is equally good. The 3.0 litre V6 engine under its skin packs in an additional of 34 bhp and 109 Nm of torque, giving it an extra punch. Its 7G-tronic plus automatic transmission does the job to provide smooth shifts. It comes equipped with airmatic suspension too, keeping the condition of some of the Indian roads in mind. This car will carry you around corners, out of potholes and across smooth terrains with utter ease. The interiors provide ample space for the occupants. Going off road is also easy, which, to sum it all up, makes it an ideal premium SUV.
