Nissan has finally revealed the new Qashqai, which it is touting as 'the most important car in its modern history.' The new crossover is characterized by a bolder design, a 150hp powertrain and all of the brand's latest driving aids.

The new model was presented by Carlos Ghosn himself. With a slightly round hood and LED daytime running lights, the Nissan Qashqai will have 19-inch alloy wheels on the high-end Tekna trim package.

Inside the vehicle, the driver can control all of the Qashqai's functions through an easy-to-use interface, including steering wheel controls and a 5-inch screen located between the speedometer and tachometer. Nissan states that the new seats offer enhanced support for both passengers and drivers, with special bolsters in the pelvis, lumbar and chest areas.

Under the hood, the new Nissan Qashqai is available with different options of diesel and fuel engines. The latest evolution of the direct injection motor 1.5 dCi Diesel engine, with 110hp, has now become the most efficient ever offered on a Qashqai, with CO2 emissions of just 99g/km. On the other hand, the 1.6 DIG-T with 150hp, slated to arrive in summer 2014, will be the most powerful and thus the most energy-hungry, consuming 5.6L over 100km on a mixed European driving cycle, for CO2 emissions estimated at 132g/km.

In terms of driving aids and safety equipment, the Nissan Qashqai 2014 has autonomous emergency braking, driver attention and lane departure warnings, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, moving object detection and intelligent parking assistance.

The new Qashqai is expected to hit dealerships from February 2014. Nissan has sold around 2 million Qashqai crossovers worldwide since the model was first launched in 2007.
