Most expensive small car BMW Mini arrives

Iconic premium small car brand Mini on Thursday entered the Indian market, one of the largest small car markets in the world, with four models priced at a jaw dropping ₹25-32 lakh.
The cars would be completely imported into India, as the iconic cars are not manufactured outside Europe, and would be by far the most expensive small cars available in the country.

Two other equally expensive small cars - the iconic VW Beetle and Fiat 500, that were launched in India in the last three years have not found many takers in the country.
In this fiscal so far, the Beetle has found only 58 takers against 314 during the same period last year. But the company said it is not deterred by such precedents.
'A Beetle is not sold in a Beetle dealership nor is a Fiat 500 sold in a 500 dealership. But a Mini is only available with a Mini dealer as we are a brand and not merely a car,' said Kay Segler, senior vice-president, Mini business coordination.
The company has introduced four variants of the Mini. While the Mini Cooper will be priced ₹24.9 lakh, the Mini Cooper S comes with a price tag of ₹27.9 lakh. The Mini Convertible is priced at ₹29.9 lakh, while the Mini Cooper S Countryman has a price tag of ₹31.9 lakh.
Worldover, the Mini Cooper hatch is the firm's bestselling model accounting for nearly a third of all sales. In 2010, the firm sold 234,000 units and sales are estimated to have grown by 20% to nearly 280,000 units. US, a predominantly big car market, is the largest market for the iconic car followed by UK, Germany, China and Japan.
