Mercedes-Benz will roll out the first locally manufactured GL-class SUV from its Chakan plant in Pune on August 26, 2013. India will be the first country to locally produce the GL-class after Mercedes's mother plant in Tuscaloosa, USA.
The local manufacturing results in the GL-class being a lot more affordable and it comes with a price tag of ₹ 77.5 lakh.
It comes with a 2987cc V6 diesel engine that puts out 258bhp at 3600rpm and 63.2kgm at 1600rpm, which is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission. This translates to a 0-100kph time of 8.9 seconds.
