Merc launches ML 63 at Rs. 1.49 cr

German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz on Thursday launched its performance oriented sports utility vehicle (SUV) ML 63 AMG, priced at ₹ 1.49 crore (ex-showroom Delhi), within a month after the launch of its top of the line SUV— GL63 AMG.

With six models under its AMG brand and at least six more models including the CLA 45 AMG, to follow in the next few months, the company is hoping to double its sales this year.

"We have around 200 AMGs on India roads currently, sold over the last couple of years. This year, we are aiming to double the sales as compared to last year," said Eberhard Kern, managing director, Mercedes-Benz India.

The ML 63 AMG is powered by a 5.5 litre twin turbo 8 cylinder petrol engine that develops a peak output of 410 kW and maximum torque of 760 Nm. Its high price however restricts its attractiveness in markets like India.
