M&M goes smaller, cheaper; launches Quanto at Rs. 5.8 lakh


India's biggest utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra launched its latest offering, its first compact sports utility vehicle Quanto at ₹ 5.82 lakh- ₹ 7.36 lakh range.
The sub-4 metre and seven-seater Quanto is the fifth SUV from M&M stable that includes XUV, Scorpio, Xylo and Bolero.
Mahindra will launch Rexton SUV from its Korean subsidiary SsangYong within a few weeks which will be priced around ₹ 20 lakh.

"With this we will have six strong products in the utility vehicle space," said Pawan Goenka, president, Mahindra & Mahindra.


Quanto is the fourth product on the Genio platform which M&M built two years back investing ₹ 550 crore.
The company invested ₹ 100 crore more to develop Quanto. Other than Xylo, Genio single cab and double cab too are built on the same platform.
M&M plans to start export of Quanto six months to a year later. The company wants to start overseas sales with South Africa and Chile.
