Land Rover Freelander 2 facelift launched
Land Rover has launched the facelifted Freelander 2. The locally-built SUV gets subtle updates inside and out.
The changes to the exterior are limited to headlamps that get LED daytime running lamps, tail-lamps that get Land Rover's twin-circular theme, new 17-inch alloy wheels on the top-spec HSE trim and three new colours.
On the inside, the Freelander 2 gets a revised dashboard layout that features fewer switches and an electric parking brake. Also, the rotary dial for the Terrain Response System has been replaced by a switch and the car now comes with keyless go as well. The SUV also gets a 7-inch colour touchscreen with satellite navigation and a Meridian sound system. The rearview camera is also new and comes as standard fitment.
The new Freelander 2 will continue to be offered with the same 2.2-litre common-rail turbo diesel engine that comes in two states of tune, 148bhp and 187bhp. Both versions come mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
Speaking at the launch, Rohit Suri, vice president, Jaguar Land Rover India, said, "The Freelander 2 has proved to be extremely popular with Indian customers and this new model brings a more premium look and feel to the overall driving experience. This is another step forward for the Freelander 2, where outstanding standard equipment levels, superb design, safety and all-terrain capability continue to set the standards in this class."
The new Freelander 2 comes with a price tag of ₹ 38.67 lakh for the base TD4 SE trim and ₹ 43.92 lakh for the top-spec SD4 HSE trim. All prices ex-showroom, Mumbai, pre-octroi.
