Jaguar plotting XF overhaul

Jaguar is plotting a major overhaul of its Jaguar XF saloon, with a new engine range, a new look and a cut in kerb weight.
The XF will sport Jaguar's new corporate look at the front, with the new grille and headlight design which will also feature on the upcoming compact Q-type saloon. It is probable that aluminium doors and body panels will be used to save weight. The outgoing XF weighs in at a portly 1745kg.
A new range of engines is expected to power the XF. A new turbocharged range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, dubbed 'Hotfire', will be used. The revised XF is also set to come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox as standard. As with other recently spotted Jaguar test mules for the firm's upcoming SUV and smaller saloon models, this car also appears to have its radiator set further back from the front grille, thanks to the compact Hotfire four-cylinder engines. Larger air intakes can also be seen around the front bumper, as well as more prominent wheel arches at the front.
A launch date of 2015 has been mooted for the revised XF, with the SUV and smaller saloon set to beat it to the market.
