DS, the Chinese subsidiary of French carmaker Citroën, is preparing to introduce a new, sportier version of its DS 5LS at the Beijing Auto Show. With the DS 5LS R concept, the brand aims to emphasize both luxury and performance.

The performance-oriented side of the DS 5LS R is expressed through its 1.6L turbo engine with 300hp and its suspension, which is 15mm lower than on the standard version of the sedan. In addition, the sedan has a sequential gearbox with paddle shifters on the steering column. The body, brake system and drive axles have also been adjusted to give the model a sportier feel on the road.

On the inside, the DS 5LS R is all about luxury, with a design combining high-end materials such as leather and Alcantara.

Sold exclusively in the Chinese market, where DS is a distinct brand owned by Citroën, the original DS 5LS is a luxury sedan.

The Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Beijing Auto Show) takes place from April 23 to 29. Website: china-autoshow.com
