BMW launched the 5-series facelift today with a starting price of 46.9 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the base 520d Modern.

There are four models to choose from, the 520d Modern ( 46.9 lakh), 520d Luxury ( 46.9 lakh), 525d Luxury + ( 51.9 lakh) and the range-topping 530d M Sport ( 57.9 lakh).

First, the base BMW 520d Modern. As standard, you get the BMW kidney grille and tail-pipes in matte chrome, illuminated door sills and leather Dakota upholstery. There's also dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, sunblinds for the rear windscreen and rear side windows, powered seat adjustment with memory, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters and keyless go.

It also gets BMW's iDrive controller with a 6.5-inch colour display. Also, you can operate the Harman Kardon sound system from the rear as well.

There's more. It gets parking sensors front and rear, a rear view camera, automatic start/stop function and BMW's Brake Energy Regeneration system as standard.

As for safety tech, you get active front headrests, driver and front passenger airbags, head airbags (front and rear) and side airbags for driver and front passenger. There's also ABS, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and Runflat tyres.

On the outside, there's adaptive LED headlights as standard, electric wing mirrors with an 'anti-dazzle' function, LED fog-lights and rain sensing driving lights. 245/45 R18 alloys come standard on this model.

Next up, the 520d Luxury model doesn't get too many additions over the base 520d, except for chrome kidney grille and tail-pipes instead of matte chrome, slightly different upholstery and a different alloy-wheel design.

The 525d Luxury + has the same amount of kit as the Luxury trim, the only difference being that it gets a 10.1-inch colour display with navigation and iDrive with a touch controller, a DVD drive and an integrated hard drive for maps and audio files.

Finally, the 530d M Sport model gets tail-pipes finished in dark chrome, an M aerodynamics package, M door sill finishers, an M leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle-shifters, sport seats for the driver and front passenger, a head-up display, different exterior paint shades and 18-inch M double-spoke alloy wheels (245/45 R18 front, 275/40 R18 rear).

All BMW 5-series models come standard with BMW's Secure Advanced package, which includes replacement of up to four tyres within one year, alloy wheel replacement within one year, repair of hydrostatic locks within one year, and key replacement (if damaged), and 24x7 road-side assistance.
