Bajaj Auto January sales up three percent

The numbers stood at 347,624 units, up from 337,875 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

Exports grew 10 percent for the month under review at 128,482 units from 116,996 units sold in the same period in 2012.

The auto major, which posted its highest-ever January sales, said it sold 301,361 units of motorcycles in the domestic market with a growth of two percent compared to 294,439 units in the corresponding month of last year.

In terms of commercial vehicles, such as passenger and goods three-wheeler carriers, it achieved a growth of seven percent, which stood at 46,263 units as against 43,436 units in the corresponding period of 2012.

The total cumulative sales of two and three-wheelers from April to January (2012-13) fell by two percent and stood at 3,603,544 units -- down from 3,670,268 units sold in the corresponding period of last year.

Cumulative exports in the period under review fell by three percent at 1,310,634 units from 1,349,406 units shipped out from April to January (2011-12).

Its motorcycle sales from April to January (2012-13) fell by one percent at 3,198,771 units from 3,231,596 units sold in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

Cumulative three-wheeler sales in the period under review fell by eight percent at 404,773 units from 438,672 units in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
