Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance hosts Stirling Moss and a Lamborghini launch
The crème de la crème of classic cars and some of the world's biggest car collectors will be descending upon a little island off the coast of Northwest Florida for the annual Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.
For the 20th year running, Amelia Island, Florida will play host to some of the rarest and most exotic cars ever created. Over 300 rolling works of art sourced from both Europe and the US will be lining up in the Concours d'Elegance, which for 2015 will be celebrating BMW, rallying -- a sport only recently beginning to find its place in the US -- and legendary racing driver, Sir Sterling Moss.

Sir Sterling was the guest of honor at the very first Ameila Island event back in 1996 and has been invited back to mark its 20th anniversary and to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his monumental Mille Miglia win. In 1955, behind the wheel of a Mercedes 300SSLR, he set a new time for the 1000-mile race which to this day still stands. That car will be one of the automotive guests of honour, as will be the cars he raced that year in Formula one and the world sports car championships.
'Sir Stirling set us on our path in 1996,' said Bill Warner, Founder and Chairman of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. 'To have Sir Stirling and his Mercedes-Benz racers from the 1955 double world championship season on the field is a fantasy come true for us. This is absolutely unprecedented...We're honored to be able to present this extraordinary collection of Sir Stirling's Mercedes-Benz World Champions.'
As well as the concours, the event features a classic car auction with several lots, including an immaculate 1955 Jaguar D-Type and a 1960 Ferrari 400 Superamericana SWB cabriolet which are expected to fetch several million dollars each.
However, it's not all about priceless classics. Boutique US sportscar firm Panzo will be bringing its latest generation Esperante Spyder and Spyder GT models to the show and Lamborghini has confirmed that it will be showing an entirely new car to this year's event where it will get its global unveiling.
The Ameila Island Concours d'Elegance officially opens its doors to the car-loving public from Friday until Sunday. The classic car auction, hosted by RM Auctions and Sotheby's gets underway on Saturday.
