⁠Skoda Slavia facelift paves way for an updated Volkswagen Virtus. Top 3 changes to expect

Skoda has updated its midsize sedan, the Slavia, in India. The new Skoda Slavia has already debuted in the country ahead of its launch. The Honda City and Hyundai Verna-rivalling midsize sedan has received a host of changes, including features that were not anticipated. Now, with these changes, the Slavia has paved the way for its sibling from sister brand, the Volkswagen Virtus, to receive a much-awaited update.

Volkswagen has not revealed anything about an updated Virtus yet. However, we can expect the midsize sedan to receive a plethora of changes, in line with its sibling, the Skoda Slavia. With the current Virtus priced between ₹14.34 lakh and ₹19.19 lakh (ex-showroom), the facelifted model could get a slight hike. Expect it to be priced between ₹14.7 lakh and ₹19.7 lakh (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen Virtus facelift: Design

The Volkswagen Virtus facelift would borrow the same face as the Volkswagen Taigun. This means the sedan would receive sleeker headlights, a connected light bar, and a sporty rear profile. In a nutshell, the Virtus facelift will come with a more aggressive and imposing design strategy compared to the existing model.

Volkswagen Virtus facelift: Interior

The cabin layout of the sedan is unlikely to change. However, it could get updates to shades and upholstery materials. The infotainment system and instrument cluster too will receive an update. Speaking of features, the updated Virtus would receive a 360-degree camera just like the Slavia. Also, there would be a multi-view dashcam.

Volkswagen Virtus facelift: Powertrain

On the powertrain front, the Volkswagen Virtus facelift would remain unchanged. However, the 1.0-litre engine churning out 114 bhp power and 178 Nm torque will get a new 8-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre motor generating 148 bhp power and 250 Nm torque will continue with a 7-speed DSG automatic unit.
