New Land Rover Discovery Sport 2020 launched at ₹57.06 lakh

Land Rover on Thursday drove in the all-new Discovery Sport in India at a starting price of ₹57.06 lakh (ex showroom). First launched back in 2014, the car has found many takers in the ensuing years and in its latest edition, promises to keep the fan following intact.
Built on the Evoque Transverse Architecture which makes it ready for shift to electric power in the future, the new Discovery Sport currently comes with BS 6-compliant 2.0-litre petrol and diesel Ingenium engines.

A nine-speed automatic unit handles transmission duties inside the Discovery Sport 2020 and AWD comes as standard.
What is of special note in the new car is that it now comes with mild hybrid option which allows the Discovery Sport to cruise at speeds under 18 kmph with the engine off. There is also regenerative braking which allows for the re-use of energy when braking.
The new Discovery Sport stands 4,600 mm in length, 2,173 mm in width (including side mirrors), height of 1,724 mm and has a wheelbase measuring 2,741 mm.

Much is happening in the looks department too and the Discovery Sport now gets redesigned bumpers, a new grille and fresh head lights. On the inside, the dashboard has been reworked to make it more driver oriented while a multi-function steering wheel and 10-inch infotainment screen come as standard. There is also a fixed panoramic contrast roof with power blind.


Not known to cut corners in the safety front, Land Rover has equipped the new Discovery Sport with lane assist system, adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, autonomous emergency braking, roll stability control and driver condition monitor, among others. Six airbags come as standard.
In India, the new Discovery Sport will continue to rival Mercedes-Benz GLC, Volvo XC 40 and the Audi Q5.
